Vasant Panchami is the day to worship The Goddess Saraswati. Goddess Saraswati is worshiped as the epitome of knowledge, art, music, speech, and culture. Basant Panchami is also known as Saraswati Puja. As a consort of Sri Brahma, She is known as a female creator of the world. She is one among the trinity (known as Tridevi- Saraswati, Lakshmi, Parvati)

Why Should We Honor the Goddess Saraswati?
- Learning is life. By paying honor to Maa Saraswati, we actually seek her blessings in the path of learning. Every child must pray to the Goddess of Knowledge every day.
- She is the Goddess of Art & Music. Thus, wherever these are practiced, Maa Saraswati is worshipped. From the early years of a child, he/she should pray to the Goddess.

How to perform Saraswati Puja on Vasant Panchami 2021:
Like being a unique Goddess, Saraswati Puja is also unique in every way.
- After taking bath on the auspicious day of the Vasant Panchami, One must wear a yellow-white colored dress. Men can wear yellow shirts or kurta while girls and women can wear saree, suits, or anything traditional.
- Saraswati Pooja day is praised as a day of learning with books set before the Deity. Dressing the Images of the Goddess in white or yellow is viewed as promising and generally, yellow food like sweet Kesar rice and flowers are offered to the Deity.
- Individuals adorn their homes with beautiful rangoli with pictures of fish considered as promising. Incense sticks and ghee lights are lit alongside reciting of songs to please the Deity.
- Chant the following Saraswati Mantra every day :
Ya Kundendu Tushara Hara Dhavala, Ya Shubhra Vastravrita
Ya Veena Varadanda Manditakara, Ya Shveta Padmasana
Ya Brahmachyuta Shankara Prabhritibihi, Devaih Sada Pujita
Sa Mam Pattu Saraswati Bhagavatee Nihshesha Jadyapaha.
या कुन्देन्दुतुषारहारधवला या शुभ्रवस्त्रावृता
या वीणावरदण्डमण्डितकरा या श्वेतपद्मासना
या ब्रह्माच्युतशंकरप्रभृतिभिर्देवै: सदा वन्दिता
सा मां पातु सरस्वती भगवती नि:शेषजाड्यापहा ||
