Significance of Chaitra Navratri Festival:

Vasant Navratri is also another name for Chaitra Navratri. It is celebrated on the first day of the Hindu calendar, which is usually in March or April. It is a grand nine-day celebration in Northern India that is celebrated with great enthusiasm. Navratri is celebrated in the Shukla paksha of the Chaitra masa (Hindu calendar month) between March and April. Gudi Padwa is the Maharashtrian name for the first day of Navratri, while Navreh is the Kashmiri name. This Navratri is widely observed in Northern and Western India, and it adds to the charm and divinity of the spring season.

“Chaitra” means the start of a new year. So the New Year starts with nine days of introspection, including prayer, meditation, and chanting.

9 Avatars of Maa Durga

Nine Avatars of Maa Durga

In the Navaratri days, Goddess Durga is worshipped, sung, and invoked in all her nine forms, which represent power, strength, bravery, knowledge, beauty, grace, and auspiciousness.

These Navaratri avatars of Durga Maa are worshipped for nine days.

Day 1: Shailaputri Puja

Pratipada is the first day of Chaitra Navratri. Devotees worship Shailputri, an avatar of Goddess Parvati, on this day. Several worshippers place Kalash in their homes on this day. Her deity wears a half-moon on her brow and wields a trident in one hand and a lotus blossom in the other.

Day 2: Brahmacharini Puja

On the second day of the holy celebration, Goddess Brahmacharini, an avatar of Goddess Paravati, is worshipped. Devi Brahmacharini is known for her true and pure devotion as well as her determination.

Day 3: Chandraghanta Puja

The goddess Chandraghanta is worshipped on the third day of Chaitra Navratri. She rides on a tiger and a half-moon on her forehead shaped like a bell.

Day 4: Kushmanda Puja

On the fourth day, Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped. This Goddess’s Navratri importance is that she bestows good health and strength to her worshipers. She is known as Ashtabhuja Devi because she is depicted with eight hands.

Day 5: Skandamata Puja

Skandamata, the mother of the war God Skanda, is honored on the fifth day of Navratri (Kartikey). She rides a ferocious lion and holds Lord Skanda, a newborn, in her lap. She is also known as the “Goddess of Fire” since she is thought to have been chosen as the commander in chief of the struggle against the demon.

Day 6: Katyayani Puja

Katyayani, also known as Mahishasuramardini, is Maa Durga’s sixth form. Katyayani was born to destroy Mahishasura. Anger, revenge, and eventual victory against evils are among her defining characteristics.

Day 7: Kalaratri Puja

Goddess Kalaratri, who is honored on the seventh day of Navratri is said to be Goddess Durga’s fiercest and most violent appearance.

Day 8: Mahagauri Puja

Mahagauri is Goddess Durga’s eighth form and is regarded as the most graceful of the navaforms. Her beauty shines with the purity of a pearl. Mahagauri has four-armed. She holds a trident in her lower right hand and her right hand in the position of alleviating suffering. Her top left arm is holding a tambourine, while her lower left arm is giving blessings.

Day 9: Siddhidatri Puja and Ram Navami

On the ninth day of Navratri, Goddess Siddhidatri is worshipped. She has natural healing abilities. She sits in a beautiful and blissfully joyful pose. Siddhdatri-Dhatri means provider and Siddhi indicate meditation skill. On Ram Navami, Kanya puja is also performed
