According to Hindu mythology, Navagraha is considered to be the Nine Celestial bodies (planets of our solar system) and Gods that are responsible for holding a great significance and effect on human life on Earth. The word Navagraha is derived from Sanskrit in which Nav refers to Nine and Graha refers to the planet.

Navagraha in Hindu culture is directly related to the Astrology and its studies, in which the significance and importance of them are explained and studied in detail by the various Jyotish (Astrologers), which help them to make future predictions regarding human life, this study is known as Jyotish Shastra.

Interestingly, They are believed to be the reasons of a person’s personality, habits, characteristics and fate. Surely, these have a great significance in our life.

2. Chandra (Moon)
3. Mangal (Mars)

Surya

Surya is the leader of all the other Navagraha and is the most powerful of all, as all the other celestial bodies of our Solar System revolve around it. Surya is also considered the Sun God. Sunday is the day of the Sun God.

Surya personifies some qualities which are leadership, strength, authority, ego, and vitality of the person.

Chandra

You must know Chandra as our Earth’s natural satellite whereas in Hindu Mythology Chandra is considered to be the Moon God, on which the Hinduism Lunar calendar is followed. Chandra is considered to be one of the most important gods of the Hindu culture which holds a great value.

Monday is the day of Moon-God. Chandra personifies some qualities which are thinking, stability and fertility.

Mangal

Mangal is the third Navagraha, which we know as Mars the Red planet of our solar system. Hindu Mythology believes Mangal as the Hindu God of war, and is thought to have red-colored skin that is depicted by the planet’s color.

Mangal is believed being the reason of highly skilled in hands and handling different types of equipment, anger, and strength.
Tuesday is the day thought to be associated with Mangal, which is also called Magalvaar in Hindi.

Budha

Budha is considered to be the fourth Navagraha, which we know as planet mercury of our solar system. Budha is also known as the Son of Chandra the Moon-God. Wednesday is thought to be the day of Budha, which in Hindi is also known as Budhavaar.

Budha is considered to be the deity of Intelligence, communication, humor, and wit. The planet is believed to control our nervous system.

Guru

Guru, the fifth Navagraha, which we know as the planet Jupiter which is the largest planet in our Solar System. Guru is considered to be the deity of light and master of the Gods, which is denoted by its name ‘’Guru”.

Planet Guru is considered to provide wisdom and wealth. Thursday or ‘Guruwaar’ in hindi, is the day of plant Guru.

Shukra

Shukra, the sixth Navagraha, or Venus in our Solar system is the master of demons as per Hinduism. Friday( Shukravaar) is the day to worship Shukra.

Hinduism believes that planet Shukra brings luxury, better luck, peace of mind, and wealth.

Shani

Shani is our seventh Navagraha, and we know it as the planet Saturn. According to Hinduism Shani is considered to be a diety of Karma (deed), justice, and retribution.

Planet Shani is worshipped by offering him mustard oil for getting fortune and good health on Saturday (Shanivaar). It is one of the most powerful grah and plays a vital role in a person’s life.

Rahu

Rahu, the eighth Navagraha, which is located on the northern side of the moon. It doesn’t have any physical appearance and is considered to be the imaginary point in the sky which is considered a shadow planet.

Rahu is thought to control ego, anger, and mentality. Rahu is believed to provide immense wealth and prosperity. Rahu is considered to be the head part of the Demon.

Ketu

Ketu is the ninth Navagraha, which is located on the southern side of the moon. Ketu is also a shadow planet with no physical existence. Ketu is believed to have a retrograde motion. Ketu means comet in Sanskrit. According to Hindu mythology, Ketu is considered to be the torso of the demon.

Ketu is believed to provide spiritual growth, knowledge, health, and wealth in life.

As mentioned above according to Hinduism and Astrology the position of the Navagraha during the person’s birth helps astrologers to predict the future and problems of their life. According to the Hindu Astrology, there are 12 zodiac signs (Rashis), and each of these Rashis is affected by the changing positions of these Navagraha. These changes in the position of Navagraha have different effects on different Zodiac Signs (Rashis) which can be both bad and good.

To counter these bad effects which are also known as Doshas in Hinduism, people follow some rituals and Poojas(prayers), which are performed with the help of pandits/gurus (Hindu religious teachers) which is also known as Navagraha Pooja. • Somanath in Saurashtra, Mallikarjunam in Shri-Shailam, Mahakaal in Ujjain, and Omkareshwar in Amleshwar.
• Vidyanath in Paralya and Bhimashankaram in Dakinya; Ramesham (Rameshwaram) in Sethubandh, and Nagesham (Nageshwar) in Darauka-Vana.
• There is Visvanath in Vanarasi, Triambakam on the Gautami river, Kedarnath in the Himalayas, and Gushmeshwar in Shivalaya (Shiwar).
• Whosoever recites the names of the jyotirlingas in the morning and in the evening; will get rid of the sins of his seven births.

In India, there are 12 major Jyotirlingas commonly known as Dwadash jyotirlingas that attract tourists every year, most of which are visited during the holy day of Maha Shivaratri. There are different Jyotirlingas in different parts of India.

Lets know about 12 Jyotirlingas known as Dwadash Jyotirlingas

Somnath

Somnath Jyotirlinga is the first Jyotirlinga in Dwadash Jyotirlingas in India. Somnath Temple is situated in Gujarat’s Saurashtra area. At this temple, it is believed that after being cursed by Prajapati Daksha, the body of the Moon gradually began to deteriorate. All living beings on the planet had to deal with numerous issues as a result of the curse.

All of the gods, along with the moon god, became concerned and went to Brahma Ji, where they told him everything that had happened. Brahma Ji asked Chandradev and all the other gods to worship Lord Shiva.

Chandra dev was thereafter set free from the curse by doing penance at this location. After all of this, all of the gods prayed to Lord Shiva to allow you to live here, and since then, Lord Shiva has been present in the form of Somnath Jyotirlinga. reside. It is believed that Chandra Dev has constructed the Somnath Shivling.

Sri Shail Mallikarjuna

Srisailam Temple, also known as Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple. It is the temple of Lord Shiva and Parvati and is one of Andhra Pradesh’s most important pilgrimage sites.

The location is significant to both Shaivism and Shaktism since it is located in one of the Dwadash Jyotirlingas and one of Goddess Parvati’s 18 Shakti Peethas. One of the places where both Shiva and Parvati are worshipped is here, where Lord Shiva is worshipped as Mallikarjuna.

Mahakal 

It is a historic city located on the eastern bank of the river Kshipra in the Malwa area of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, in the heart of India. Near the banks of the noble Salila Kshipra, Lord Shiva sits in the form of Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga. The Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga has a special and unique place among all the twelve Jyotirlingas. According to Hindu tradition, whoever is devoted to Mahakal cannot have their time spoiled.

Omkareshwar Mamleshwar

Omkareshwar Jyotirling is in Madhya Pradesh, near the city of Indore. The Narmada river flows through the location of this Jyotirlinga, and the water’s flow around the hill takes the shape of an ‘Om’. Om is a word that came from Lord Brahma’s mouth. As a result, any religious text or Vedas is repeated with Om. Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga gets its name from the fact that it is shaped like an Om.

Kedarnath

The Kedarnath Jyotirlinga is one of Lord Shiva’s 12 major Dwadash Jyotirlingas. It is located in Uttarakhand, on the Himalayan mountain of Kedar. On the route to Badrinath Dham, there is a temple dedicated to Baba Kedarnath. Kedarnath’s altitude is 3584 meters above sea level. Skanda Purana and Shiva Purana both have descriptions of Kedarnath. Lord Shiva loves this pilgrimage. Kedarnath has exactly the same importance as Kailash.

Nageshvara

Nageshwar in Dwaraka, Gujarat is one of the Jyotirlingas in Gujarat. According to the story behind the Nageshwara jyotirlinga. When a demon kidnapped a Shiva Devotee named Supriya and kept her in prison with Darukavana. It is a city full of snakes and demons. Supriya and other people chanted the holy chant of Lord Shiva, which caused Shiva to appear, vanquish the demon, and later reside as a Jyotirlinga there.

Baidyanath

Vaidyanatha Jyotirlinga Temple is one of India’s 12 Jyotirlingas, also known as Baba Baidyanath Dham and Baidyanath Dham and is located in Deoghar, Jharkhand. It is one of the most sacred Jyotirlingas In India.
Ravana is claimed to have worshipped Lord Shiva at the existing location to get boons and have his wishes granted. Ravana offered his ten heads as a sacrifice, and Lord Shiva was pleased, so he acted as a vaidya, hence the name Vaidyanath.

Bhimashankar

The Shri Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga is located on the Sahyadri mountain in Maharashtra’s Pune district and is known as Shiva’s sixth Jyotirling. Moteshwar Mahadev is another name for Shri Bhimashankar Jyotirling. It is said that if a devotee visits the Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga temple every morning after sunrise, all the sins from his previous births would be removed and he can enjoy paths to paradise that are opened for him after his death.

Kashi Vishwanath

Kashi Vishwanath temple, which is located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, is probably one of the most well-known Jyotirlingas. On the banks of the Ganges, the Holy River.
Shri Vishwanath or Vishweshwar, which means Lord of the Universe, is the main deity here. During ancient times, Varanasi was known as Kashi, thus the name Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

Trimbakeshwar

The holy Godavari River in Nashik, Maharashtra is the witness of the auspicious Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga. This Jyotirlinga is located on the Brahmagiri mountain which is the source of the holy Godavari River. Lord Bholenath is also known as Trimbakeshwar. This Jyotirlinga is the giver of all virtues as well as the remover of all misery.

Rameshwaram

This Jyotirlinga is found in Tamil Nadu’s Ramnad district. Rameshwaram is one among the Hindu Char Dham as well as being one of Lord Shiva’s 12 Jyotirlingas. According to Hindu mythology, the Rameshwaram Jyotirlinga was built by Lord Shri Ram himself. This Jyotirlinga is named Rameshwaram because Lord Rama has founded it.

Grishneshwar

Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga or the Dhanumeshwar Temple (another name for the temple), is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. It is the 12th and final Jyotirlinga, and it is one of the most important pilgrimage places for the Shaiva tradition of Hinduism. It is located near the Ellora Caves. The samadhis of Shri Eknathji Guru and Shri Janardan Maharaj Ji are located here.

Sai Baba’s Life in Brief:

Sri Sai Baba, known as Sai Baba of Shirdi, (Since 1838— October 15, 1918), to Hindu and Muslim fans all through India and in diaspora networks as distant as the United States and the Caribbean. The name Sai Baba comes from ‘sai’, a Persian word utilized by Muslims to mean a sacred individual, and baba, Hindi for father. 

Sai Baba’s initial years are a mystery. Most records notice his introduction to the world as a Hindu Brahman and his adoption by a Sufi fakir. However, it is believed that he had a Hindu Guru later. Sai Baba came to Shirdi, in the western Indian territory of Maharashtra, around 1858, and stayed there till his last breath in 1918. 

Dwarka Mai:

Sai Baba stayed in a Mosque which he named ‘Dwarka Mai’. Sai baba has huge disciples of both Hindu and Muslim. He believed that there is only one God. Among his teachings, “Sabka Malik Ek”; says it all. 

Dwarka Mai, in Shirdi, is a pilgrimage for his followers. He believed that having faith in God will resolve all problems, but patience is the key.

He had a great knowledge of the Puranas, the Bhagavadgita, and different parts of Hindu ideas. 

He is believed to be an incarnation of God as many times his supernatural powers showed up in the form of a miracle.
